Your Say - My Say

Technology

The pace of change these days is just phenomenal. Each and every day there are huge advances being made. things that not that long ago would have been perceived as pie in the sky ideas such as driver less cars, electric cars, fridges that do your shopping, now seem normal.

I am interested in the whole technology thing. I recently bought a phone (http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/review/smartphones/sony-xperia-xz-review-3645937/). It wasn't an expensive phone, it was a cheapish one, however it suddenly hit me that the phone totally outclassed the first computer that I ever bought back in 1997 (I think). The phone has 16GB memory, my computer had 2GB. The phone has 1GB of RAM, the computer I think had 256mb and in all other specifications the phone will win hands down. This is a tiny device about a 50th the size of the computer I bought all those years ago and it beats it on everything.

This is the same with all areas of technology. The rate of change is phenomenal. It wasn't that long a go to get a website built and hosted live on the internet, the charge would be running into the thousands. These days things have changed with the creation of website builders that allow you or me to create our own websites with the tools provided. I recently noticed a new advance in the web design services provision, http://www.freebly.co.uk provide a free one page website which is built for you. I haven't tried it but how cool is that, a free website done for you. Of course it's got to be a template but then if you're not paying much then who's complaining.

I have just come across another of these web design services - http://www.soletrader.website which again seems to be a good deal for small businesses or sole traders. It seems to me the days of getting a website for your business being too expensive to even consider are well and truly over.
